Is multiboxing allowed (legal) in WoW?
A common questions asked by many who are looking to start multiboxing, or many who have played against a multiboxer: is multiboxing allowed (legal) in WoW?
The simple answer is yes. What a lot of players fail to realise is that multiboxing in WoW would only be against their ToS if any movement or actions of the characters being played was automated (i.e. the player is not controlling them). While we do use multiboxing software such as pwnboxer to control our characters, nothing is automated. The software we use to control our multiple accounts only sends the keystrokes and movement commands we manually press on our keyboard. Therefore no characters are moving or attacking automatically.

But isn't still morally cheating?
A lot of people still say that even though WoW allow multiboxing in their game, it still is cheating, using multiple accounts at the same time. I can understand why some people would see this as an advantage to the multiboxer. However what non-multiboxers fail to see is the fact that multiboxing can actually be quite difficult. A well organised group of 5 players should be able to easily beat somebody who is multiboxing 5 accounts. What happens a lot of time in battlegrounds is one or two people running to try and kill a multiboxer and then getting 'one shot'. It should be quite obvious to any player that no one person (unless they are pro) will be able to take on 5 characters, whether they are a multiboxer or not.

Pwnboxer Review
My Pwnboxer Review
I have been multiboxing for over 2 years now and have been looking for the best WoW multiboxing software for quite a while. I had previously multi-boxed with a simple WoW multiboxing program, and while it effectively did the basics, it didn't do things with the precision I need for multiboxing.
I’m putting together this Pwnboxer review because I've been very interested in this, the best multiboxing software for a while, and hadn't seen much else mentioned about it on-line.
Although it is a review, you can click here to visit the official Pwnboxer website.
First of all, What exactly is Pwnboxer?
The multiboxing software itself is designed to be extremely easy and simple to use, which allows you to multibox anywhere from 2 to 10 characters at once in games like World of Warcraft (but note it isn't limited to only WoW).
With tons of built in features and settings, from custom game settings to increase performance to broadcasting of keyboard and mouse. The newest feature in pwnboxer multiboxing software is its dockable click mapping which allows you to make a grind in game with buttons that send commands to all of your characters.
What makes Pwnboxer the best WoW Multiboxing Software is the ability to dual box a number of accounts with ease, without having to try and learn difficult scripting or use an overly complex User Interface. It’s easy to setup your accounts and games, use click-mapping to send commands to all your characters with the click of a mouse, and manage healing, tanking, DPS and AOEs all at once. Pwnboxer was never built to just be a multiboxing software solution for World of Warcraft. It works and has support for LoTRO Multiboxing and many other MMOs.
Bad Points:
- No command lines or code options available. 99% of multiboxers won't need this but a very small number of games might.
- Pwnboxer isn't free multiboxing software. Although it isn't free you can still save thousands chosing this option over a hardware setup.
Good Points:
- Extremely simple and easy to use.
- Has all features of other software such as keyclone and isboxer plus more. Easier to use then other solutions.
- First class customer support.
- Great community of multiboxers. Many guides available on the forums.

In our macros section we have some great basic macros to help you start dual boxing with 5 shamans. Same goes with our addons section, you will find the best most basic required addons to help you multibox in World of Warcraft. Whether you want to solo PvE content or play some PvP in either battlegrounds or arena, I guarantee you will have fun.
Multiboxing / Dual Boxing - What is it and why do it?
Multiboxing, Multi-boxing or Dual Boxing is a term mainly used to describe a MMORPG player who controls separate multiple characters/accounts simultaneously. This can be achieved by using 1 of 2 setups. Someone who is a multiboxer will either use separate computers or run multiple instances of the game on a single computer and use multiboxing software.
With the advances in PC technology its now possible to run 5 instances of a game on a single pc, use multiboxing software and have a nice setup without breaking the bank too much. Why spend thousands of dollars when you can do it on a single pc with multiboxing software that costs roughly $50?
Most information on this website will specifically talk about using a single PC setup aided by wow multiboxing software.
It will also specifically talk about Multiboxing World of Warcraft, although there will be good general information for people looking for setups for other games. We have a short Review of PwnBoxer which can be used for LoTRO Multiboxing, WoW Multiboxing Software and many other MMOs.Pwnboxer wasn't just designed for world of warcraft, it was made to accommodate all MMOs.
But isn't Multiboxing against the games ToS?
Currently in the game World of Warcraft, multiboxing is completely legal and cannot get you banned. Some games do not allow multiboxing and its always a good idea to double check before you do so. From my own personal experience of multiboxing in wow is that the percentage of players who think that dual boxing is cheating is very high.
This is probably the same for other games. Many of the players who think this will probably report you thinking that your hacking or botting some how. Don't be worried, as long as your game is listed below then that game allows players to multibox.
To date (according to Wikipedia Page), World of Warcraft, Warhammer Online, Age of Conan, Aion, Anarchy Online, Dungeons and Dragons Online, Lord of the Rings Online, Vanguard, EverQuest, EverQuest II, Lineage, Lineage II, City of Heroes, City of Villains and Ultima Online all allow multiboxing.
We recently added a blog (link can be found in the page footer) that has tons of great information and videos to help you get started multiboxing.
You can also check out WoW Wikis Page Warcraft Multiboxing Guide for some more great information for dual boxing World of Warcraft. There is alot of information to take in from this webpage about mutlboxing so we advice you use the links to the left and check our guides.

Multiboxing Software Review
Multiboxing Software
Multiboxing software is without a doubt the most important ingredient when it comes to multiboxing in any game. Using the best multiboxing software will make life a lot easier for you. Below I will discuss a number of different multiboxing software and why you should and shouldn't use them.
The software discussed below is listed in my preferred order. I have used them all and without question PWNBoxer is the best I have tested.
PwnBoxer - PwnBoxer is my preferred method for multiboxing for many reasons. Firstly is the setup. It takes literately 5 min's to get started multiboxing with PwnBoxer the Best WoW Multiboxing Software.
It also broadcasts mouse as well as keys and is updated regularly. There support is also first class. I had a question when I purchased and I think they emailed me back like 2 hours later! Awesome! Check out the official website here or my more in-depth review here.
ISBoxer - Isboxer is also a nice piece of kit. Supports all the same features as pwnboxer but is slightly more complicated to setup. The big disadvantage for me was the price. Although ISBoxer is free multiboxing software, you will still need innerspace to run it. Innerspace is a monthly subscription based. Support is OK, roughly 12 hours to reply.
Keyclone - Keyclone is the more basic of all 3 of the multiboxing software. After a little playing around with keyclone I gave up. Although it is a nice small application, it still doesn't beat pwnboxer in terms of features and value for money.
So to conclude, PwnBoxer is what I would recommend you use for your multiboxing software solution. It really is the best multiboxing software. Pwnboxer isn't only for WoW, you can use it for LoTRO Multiboxing and many other MMOs that are currently supported.
